Dear Parents and Guardians,

Yes, we made it! The French Activity books are stored "warmly"in my office. The children may use their notebooks to review all the vocabulary taught and the numbers.

It has been another wonderful year with all your children. We worked hard in various ways to finish strong. I cannot be more proud of all their accomplishments.

C'est un privilège que de travailler avec vos enfants et j'en suis très honorée.

De tout mon coeur, je vous remercie de votre confiance et je vous dis"Au revoir et à l'année prochaine".

Bonne vacances! Have a Great Summer!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
I cannot believe that we are coming to an end of the school year. Here some insights about the learning happening throughout the grades.

2nd Grade:
We started a new unit: “The family Legrand”.
Our first lesson is to know where we live. Students are to direct their thoughts toward where they live (a house or an apartment) and should consider the city, the beach, the country or the mountain. Moreover, they get to learn all the vocabulary related to the rooms of the house.

3rd- 4th Grade:
We started to learn about the ages and dynamics of a family. The students are recognizing the relationship among all members, with some particularities (twins, concept of youngest and oldest) and using the proper vocabulary to show understanding of those defined relations.

5th Grade:
Within our theme “Free Time/Temps Libre”.
We moved from music to sports and students learned all about the sports we practice. Moreover, we had the chance to know about all activities French people do during the week-end. The students got to describe their ideal week-end.
As we wrap things up, we are working on a project called “all about me” that will include all personal information learned throughout the years.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The summer is fast approaching, and with it the end of the school year!
While we in the French team are excited for the break, we’re even more eager to gear up for next year—and a major part of gearing up is taking care of our books.

Unlike other class materials, which go home with our scholars, the French activity book will live on campus during the summer. In the next five weeks, we will be labeling and collecting these books for safekeeping. We want our Les Loustics program, which serves students for 2 consecutive years, to be ready and waiting for scholars when they return. During the summer, we invite scholars and families to use their French notebooks and online resources to review all material taught throughout the year.

If you plan to move to another Great Hearts Academy, especially one which follows the Les Loustics program, please contact the French team by email before the end of May to request your books.

If you plan to change school networks, or if your child will not be using Les Loustics level 1 or 2 at their academy, we ask kindly that you donate it to Arete where it will surely serve a child in need.

Thank you for your understanding and your cooperation in this matter.

Bonjour Archway Families!

It is our great pleasure to invite you to our annual Fine Arts and French Night, an evening showcasing our students’ work this year!

This event will take place on Wednesday, April 11th.

 Unlike last year,
there will only be one session this year. The event will run from 5:30-7:30.

Parking will be available both on campus and at The Falls

Our students have made great strides this academic year in both French and Fine Art, and we cannot wait for you to come get a glimpse of the beauty they have created on this special occasion.

Come enjoy French performances, art workshops, student work, and snacks! This is a casual event, so uniforms are not required.

Keep a weather eye out for more information, and we hope to see you there!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope that you all had an enjoyable break with family and friends. As we go into quarter 4, here are some insights into the learning throughout the grades.

2nd Grade:
We are going to consolidate the learning of the days of the week and practice writing the date. Moving forward, we are going to learn more action verbs related to school activities such as counting, drawing, reading, going to P.E., reciting a poem etc… Moreover, we are going to learn to tell our like and dislike about school activities.

3rd- 4th Grade:
We finished strong learning about the countries, the languages we hear and the nationalities. We are moving back into the school to learn about all the subjects taught. We are reviewing telling time rapidly to be able to read a schedule easily and correctly. We are also looking at a French schedule and make a comparison with ours.

5th Grade:
We are moving into “Free Time/Temps Libre”.
Our first stop was the love of Music and the question was “do you play any instrument? “ We distinguished between the masculin and feminin vocabulary nouns to be able to use the prepositions in a correct sentence. Next, our theme is "Sports". We are going to name different sports and clubs and practice them in regard of masculin and feminin nouns. Yes, we aim to have a correct sentence with the correct use of the prepositions.

During instruction time….

I believe that good listening, repetition and practice are key ingredients for success. Please remind your children to pay close attention, to think about the context of the lesson and to participate often in class. This will help them make more connections to the material presented, retain it and have the ability to complete the task at hand independently and efficiently.

Et chez vous! …… And at home!

I encourage all students to take their notebook home to review their vocabulary daily and repeat the words 5-10 minutes while you are listening. Google/translate can be a big help if you have a doubt on a pronunciation.

Have fun with the learning and always remind your children to do their best at all times.
